CBS Outdoor Goes Independent, Starts REIT

NEW YORK — CBS Outdoor Americas Inc. is no longer part of CBS Corp.

CBS OutdoorThe out-of-home company announced its full separation from its CBS parent yesterday after completing an issues-exchange offer. CBS Corp. released its 81% ownership.

CBS Outdoor also began operating today as a real estate investment trust (REIT), and will elect and qualify for the tax-advantageous status. The Internal Revenue Service issued a private letter ruling on April 16, 2014 with respect to certain issues relevant to the Company’s qualification to be taxed as a REIT.
